1 Stars MOST DISAPPOINTED
Book took 16 days to arrive (only 3 states away) and it was LARGE print, which wasn’t disclosed in sales description. Most disappointed, I returned it.
5 Stars Good In Bed
I read GOOD IN BED and it grabs you right from the start! You expect some lithe sexy blonde from teh title but her looks as well as her discovery will take everyone bu surprise. She’s fat, for one thing. So the betrayal from, (who else?) her ex.is particularly painful. The book has a twisted premise that makes it unique and a great read. The beginning was hysterical. The intricate relationships that the protagonist has wtih her gay mother, her ex, her child, and then.. her Self keeps the reader involved from beginning to end. The writing is wonderful. I am a great admirer of Jennifer Weiner’s talent as a well=established (to say the least) author,My Husband Ran Off with the Nanny and God Do I Miss Her by Tracy Davis (its hilarious!)
3 Stars Cute and Lame
For the most part this is a nice easy read. The best way I can think to describe it is Bridget Jones with a weight problem and several life experiences that are outlandish and depressing all at once. The characters are all very likeable but completely simple. In any case, there are enough funny and cute moments to keep the story moving and the overall book enjoyable.
Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.
Suggested With: A margarita and a poolside lounge chair.
5 Stars Great Read
Loved this book! Jennifer Weiner is an incredible writer. The main character ‘Cannie’ was witty and relatable. I thought this book was going to be all laughs, but it had some sad points too. All in all it was a great read!
4 Stars Good in Bed - soooooo good
My mom passed me this book, and I almost passed it right back because the title screamed chick-lit (which I know can be fantastic but overall isn’t my favorite genre). But do not be fooled: Good in Bed is not chick-lit. Or maybe it is - it does, after all, chronicle the relationships of a modern, young protagonist - but it doesn’t matter because this book is funny, thought-provoking, and an absolute joy to read. As heroine Cannie Shapiro struggles to come to terms with her plus-size body, her feelings for her ex, and the balance between her past and her future, you’ll feel as though you’re sharing the adventures of a new best friend. Her sharp wit and kind heart are both honest and endearing, and by the end you’ll be cursing her misfortunes and cheering her well-deserved triumphs.
