5 Stars Belly Be Gone!
Who doesn’t want to get rid of their belly fat? If you conducted a survey, I imagine the belly would win the most detested body part contest. Yes some women gain in the hips and thighs (that’s me), but many millions of men and women gain first around the middle, the most dangerous fat of all. New research in 2008 found that obesity has now overtaken smoking as the leading cause of premature heart attacks. In the hospital where I work, many surgery techs complain about the strenuous task of holding open the abdominal fat so the surgeon can get to the organs.
The editors at Men’s Health read every success story in Men’s (and Women’s) Health back to January 2001, and found a common theme leading to weight loss success. These six weight loss secrets are shared with us in this book, along with easy recipes, simple shopping lists, superfoods for belly reduction, 50 ways to leave your blubber (my personal favorite), and lifting dumbells to build more muscle and burn more fat.
While the plan includes a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, and fiber-rich whole grains, you also get your meat. In addition to Pork ‘n Greens, you will also enjoy pizza, tacos, jerk pork kebabs with sweet potato fries, and sloppy joes. If you’re a vegetarian, you can skip the meat recipes. There are plenty of vegetarian recipes included, and the knowledge you’ll gain from this book makes it worth owning.
I, for one, am hoping my son and husband will enjoy the recipes in this book. I’m much more likely to succeed with them if I include meat in their meals. Since my husband’s mother died at only 62 of a heart attack, I’m hoping to get him eating better before it’s too late.
